TAUPO, New Zealand – Renowned for its tranquil location and iconic setting, Hilton Lake Taupo is pleased to announce the official reopening of the hotel on 1 July 2020.

“Hilton Lake Taupo is excited to once again welcome guests from all over New Zealand to experience the breath-taking beauty of their own country,” says Scott Thomson, general manager, Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo. “Hilton Lake Taupo’s premium hospitality experience is now more affordable than ever with new deals available to encourage Kiwis to explore their own back yard.”

In the wake of celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Hilton Lake Taupo has used the recent recess to reflect on the current changes in the world and adapt the property and its services to accommodate a new season of domestic travellers.

With overseas travel currently limited, Hilton Lake Taupo provides a breath-taking location for domestic travellers to seek out some respite and relaxation. Nestled amongst the stunning scenery of Taupo in New Zealand’s North Island, guests will experience awe-inspiring natural beauty, impressive views across Lake Taupo and Tongariro National Park, as well as some of the best New Zealand outdoor experiences, including fishing, skiing, tramping and golfing.

In response to evolving consumer expectations during the Covid-19 pandemic, Hilton has launched the Hilton CleanStay Program. In a first for the hospitality business, Hilton has partnered with RB, makers of Lysol® and Dettol®, to help deliver an even safer stay for guests. Building on the already high standards of housekeeping and hygiene at Hilton properties, the CleanStay Program focuses on a new level of cleanliness visible to guests throughout their entire stay.

The program, implemented at Hilton Lake Taupo, includes input from experts from Mayo Clinic’s Infection Prevention and Control team who have assisted in enhancing Hilton’s cleaning and disinfection protocols.

Hilton Lake Taupo offers the best in dining with the Bistro Lago menu renowned as a favourite amongst guests and locals alike. Savour the intricate creations of newly appointed Head Chef Adrian Walker, centred around beautiful New Zealand produce and paired with wine from the region, in front of the roaring fire at the Hotel’s Bistro Lago restaurant.

Guests can enjoy the experience themselves this winter with the Hilton Dream Away Sale, with up to 30% discount for Hilton Honors members, or 25% discount for non-Hilton Honors members. These rates are available until 3 July 2020 for stays until 31 March 2021. The offer is available to book here.

Originally built in 1889 as The Terraces Hotel, the property has transformed into an iconic North Island destination and an integral part of the Taupo community. The perfect winter holiday destination, Hilton Lake Taupo is situated just a short drive from Taupo’s charming town centre, and just 15 minutes from Taupo (TUO) Airport.

For peace of mind, Hilton wishes to confirm that Hilton Lake Taupo is currently not working with the New Zealand government to become an isolation facility amid the COVID-19 crisis.
